If you use Google Workspace, you may have spotted a group called “All ShiftControl Users” in your directory. ShiftControl created it during onboarding to decide who gets a ShiftControl login. It doesn’t need it anymore, so we’re retiring it.
The ShiftControl app now gives everyone in your Google Workspace access by itself. Nobody loses access along the way, and you have one less system group to wonder about.
- One less group in Google Workspace. We’re removing the “All ShiftControl Users” group from your directory, and new workspaces never get one.
- Access stays automatic. Everyone in your Google Workspace keeps getting ShiftControl, with no group to maintain. Suspended and archived people don’t get a login.
- A simpler ShiftControl app page. Because access is automatic, the ShiftControl app no longer shows the Group and Individual assignment tabs. The Users tab still lists everyone who has access.
- Guests get no apps. Google Workspace guests are there to chat with your team, so ShiftControl no longer gives them access to any app. Their Google account and group memberships stay as they are.
- JumpCloud gets an all-users group. When a JumpCloud workspace is set up, ShiftControl now creates (or reuses) an “All ShiftControl Users” group in JumpCloud and connects it to the ShiftControl app, so everyone can sign in from the start. Existing JumpCloud workspaces don’t change.
