People’s work emails change: a new name, a new domain, or a mistake fixed in your HR system. ShiftControl now follows those changes to the right account in Google Workspace or JumpCloud, instead of creating a second account or leaving an old one active.

  • New email, same account. When someone’s work email changes in your HR system, the next sync renames their existing account. Their groups, app access and history stay where they are, and you don’t pay for a second licence.
  • Old address still works. In Google Workspace, the old address stays on the account as an alias, so mail sent to it still arrives.
  • No work email, no active account. If someone’s work email is removed in your HR system, the next sync suspends their account. It never deletes it, and if the email comes back, the account is turned back on.
  • A safety net for big changes. If a lot of people lose their work email in one sync, ShiftControl suspends nobody and opens a work item for an admin to approve first.
  • Everything is on record. Your audit log shows each rename with the old and new address, and each suspension with the reason.

ShiftControl only renames an account when the new address is on one of your Workspace domains and isn’t already in use. Nothing to set up: it all happens on your next HR sync.
